Racing Pigeon Genetics Library¶
The PigeonGene Genetics Library (genetics.senopigeon.com) is the genetics backbone of the PigeonGene digital ecosystem. It provides scientific and carefully worded racing pigeon genetics knowledge for fanciers and breeders.
What you will find here¶
- Gene Encyclopedia: the function, research evidence and interpretation limits of eight performance-related gene loci (LDHA, DRD4, CRY1, MSTN, LRP8, GSR, CASK, F-KER). Each page states its evidence grade and its verified literature sources.
- Genetics topics: guided reading across 12 topics, including breeding genetics, performance genetics, homing and endurance genetics, inbreeding coefficient and plumage colour genetics.
- Genetic markers: marker types such as STR and SNP, the genotyping workflow, and their limitations.
- Glossary: core genetics terms explained.
- FAQ: common questions about the limits of genetic testing and how to read a DNA report.
Who this is for¶
- Fanciers: understand what "may be associated" really means in a DNA report, and avoid over-interpretation;
- Breeders: see the genetics behind inbreeding coefficient, heritability and pairing strategy;
- Researchers: trace every literature source cited here (PMID/DOI verifiable).
Scientific statement¶
Gene associations are probabilistic and exploratory information. Wording throughout this site is limited to "may be associated / research suggests", and does not constitute a prediction or guarantee of race performance. Actual racing performance results from genes, training, nutrition, health and environment acting together.
